Did you know that Gout Awareness Day is held on May 22? In support of Gout Awareness Day today, we’ve launched a new tool to help those that suffer from the disease. Of the nearly 8.3 million adults living with gout, more than half experience multiple gout attacks each year. But having fewer or no gout attacks is possible. The Arthritis Foundation’s Let’s Speak Gout patient tool is now available to empower you to better manage your disease.

Let’s Speak Gout was developed—with sponsorship support from Takeda Pharmaceuticals—to provide resources that help patients and doctors make discussions about gout management a priority. Good communication with your doctor can help improve your care. In the tool, you’ll find

  • ways to improve the conversation with your doctor
  • tips and questions to help you self-advocate during office visits
  • resources to help you track symptoms and gout attacks
  • important information you should know about gout and uric acid

Visit Let’s Speak Gout to download the patient tool. On the site, you’ll also find information about the research that was used to develop the tool and a gout facts infographic.

The Arthritis Foundation wants to be your partner by providing resources that empower you to better manage your gout. It’s important to learn all you can about your disease and have open, honest communication with your doctor. This will help you work together to develop the best treatment plan for you.
